Who We Are
Our homes are havens and teaching grounds. Relationships are built, character is built, patience is tested, love is multiplied, skills are acquired and all of this succeeds with building on the One true foundation that cannot be moved by the changing wind or the life storms.
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." (Gal. 6:9)
Continue to sit at the feet of Jesus and bring your children to His feet with you. Teach them that He is the only One they can depend on. That He is good. That He is trustworthy. That through Him they can accomplish all that is put before them because He created them to accomplish mighty things. That the only thing that limits what they can accomplish is being unwilling to simply ask.
And we know this to be true because His word tells us, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matt 7:7)
We (our GCA family) are here to encourage, pray, hug, laugh and cry with you. And if you need a warm meal we can do that too. We are a homeschool haven brought together to spur each other on and encourage one another to continue on the path and finish the race the Lord has set before us. Some seasons we're sprinting and other seasons we're barely crawling. But God is good and always provides what we need at the time we need it and He leads those with young gently. His word is sweeter than honey.
"Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!" (Ps. 34:8)
So dear mamas, friends and sisters, "We may make a lot of plans, but the Lord will do what He has decided." (Prov. 19:21)
And it will accomplish even more than what we originally set out to do.
God is good all the time. All the time God is good.
GCA for Short
We see our group as extended family, and we want to provide the best support, encouragement, love and nurture you need.
By spending time together, serving and getting to know one another better, we can build solid relationships. This commitment of time, energy, play and work results in a supportive community for each family.
Our Stance on Charter Schools
Charter schools are public schools (government funded) which means GCA and charter schools are not compatible. You cannot be duel enrolled in GCA and a charter school. Once your child is in high school you can duel enroll in Jr or Community College classes as GCA will still hold your students paperwork.
GCA is a private support group and school (PSP) which means our members/families are also private schoolers (whether GCA holds your files or you file a PSA).
We believe the best decisions are made when we gather with our spouse to seek the Lord in deciding what is best for our childrens education. At the same time, knowing the Lord is always good and faithful to provide for our every need.
How Does my Family Join?
Joining our school-fold is done after an interview with one or both of the co-leaders.
Jennifer Castro and Alaina Nunez are the co-leaders and shepherdesses of GCA. They are the overseers and organizers of the group. Making sure there is a rhythm and flow to the gatherings while nurturing and protecting the moms of the group.
The Sister Servant Leaders (SSL) are like “mentor moms” and their job is to make sure you and your children are plugged in, making connections, friendships, supporting, encouraging and showing you the ropes of how we run our group.
What is the Commitment Level?
Like everything in life, you get out what you put in.
We meet three times a month on Wednesday mornings for group classes and each mom is expected to lead, teach and help during this time.
We also have seasonal and holiday celebrations, field trips, service projects and moms nights.
As part of the group you will be asked to serve in some capacity, whether it be planning a service project, organizing a field trip or leading a craft, devotional or game during one of our celebrations.
We keep in mind that many hands make light work so we always want mama size jobs for our moms. Our primary ministry is our families and for that reason we avoid overloading anyone.
